I'll say it again. Pathetic.
The dictionary doesn't do it justice, it defines pathetic as affecting or moving the tender emotions (NO!); causing pity (Now we're talking!)
Pissed-offish? Head in hands make you wanna cry? Nah, I'll just stick with my first choice. Pathetic.
Follow my sorry story below.
So, on Tuesday last Mr. uintas and I decided we would go to a local Democratic Party caucus. Hand to God, I have never done this. I always vote, I contribute, eat and sleep politics, but have never gone to my local party caucus.
I found out about it from the Salt Lake Tribune, but had to chase down the location. It was in the Jr. High School. I got myself all gussied up and am really glad about that because my picture ended up on the front page of our small town paper.
We arrived and followed the signs to the lunchroom. There were tables set up for each District, ours was District 16 and we were the only people there to represent it. Some Districts had no one.
Our very red State Legislature has gerrymandered our Distict into something that only Escher could come up with, it winds it's way through the state covering five counties. Up till now it has been represented in the State Senate by a Republican.
I met the young man who is running as the Democratic candidate. He told me he had been asked by the party chair to run only so they could get a read on how many Dems there were out there. Some Counties have no Democratic Party chair at all. He asked if he had a chance and was told, "No chance in Hell" he signed up to run and the incumbant declared he was retiring.
I'm not posting the candidate's name yet, because I haven't contacted him. I intend to, I want to help him if I can. I want to help my state party. Our caucus was so under-represented that anyone could have been a delegate or held office just because they were there. Thirty people showed up. I voluteered to call, mail, help in anyway. I'm a care-giver so my time is limited, but one day....
What about you? What's up in your District? How's your State Party doing. Here's a look at our District
